In the department of Philosophy (p.17), Professor of Philosophy is Ivan Sutherland, appointed in 1937, Senior Lecturer is A. Crowther (PhD from Cambridge) and the Lecturer in Philosophy is Arthur N. Prior, M.A. The syllabus of courses in philosophy is given on pages 115-118. On page 144, in the section "Publications and researches, Philosophy and Psychology", three publications of Artur Prior are listed: the articles "Determinables, determinates and determinants", in &lt;em&gt;Mind&lt;/em&gt;, Jan. and Apr., 1949, "Argument a fortiori" in &lt;em&gt;Analysis&lt;/em&gt;, Jan., 1949, and his first book &lt;em&gt;Logic and the basis of ethics&lt;/em&gt; (Clarendon press, 1949).</text>
