Description
The Calendar of the Canterbury University College for the year 1945. The pages 17 and 18 of the Calendar list the college academic staff in 1945 by departments. In the department of Philosophy (p.18), the Professor of Philosophy is Ivan Sutherland, appointed in 1937, and the Senior Lecturer in Philosophy is Karl Popper (Ph.D., from Vienna, with the address in Christchurch at 14a Westerna Terrace). The pages 165-166 contain the syllabus of courses in philosophy. On page 199, in the section "Publications and researches, Philosophy", it is noted that Karl R. Popper published "The poverty of historicism", Parts I and II, in Economica, February and August 1944.
